How to make a Writing Pledge

I will Post Every Day for 1 year

At the end of 2024 I want to send this to you all:

A year ago, I set myself a challenge: to publish a post every day for a year. I wanted to improve my writing skills, grow my audience, and share my thoughts and experiences. It was not easy, but it was worth it. In this blog post, I’ll tell you how I did it, and what I learned along the way. You’ll discover the benefits and challenges of writing every day, the tools and strategies I used, and the lessons I learned about myself and my writing.

Job 1 is to make the pledge public and ensure there is either a substantional reward or deterrent in the background. Words really do have power, and the more often I have told others what I have going on, the more determined I become to stay the course. No excuses.

To make life easier, I used the template developed as part of writing my first book Authentic Intelligence. The template has since turned into a published workbook. It also helped me to write up my Goals for all of 2024, from full year to quarter to monthly and then as I go the weekly list developed. At the beginning I felt that it would be a terribly constraining practise but to be honest I have started to see it as really liberating – all I have to do is show up!

The regular start to a daily routine, checking in mentally for a while, seeing what is the blog challenge title of the day, getting that out in under 30 minutes – all of this has been a Literary Gym expereince. If my earlier addiction ot High Intensity Short Duration physical gym work got me back on my feet after a third dose of Covid then why on earth would the same not work for shaking off any mental shortness of breadth?

Also, everyone can benefit from a good coach, so I use Pro Writing Aid to help keep me within the tracks, and occasionally I will use the Silicon Genie AI platform du jour for feedback, otherwise its just show up and get on with it!
